I did this piece as a gift for a good friend of mine. It is a drawing of his uncle, Pedro Quientero, who is a fallen police officer from Sinaloa, Mexico. While celebrating his promotion to 2nd commander of his department, a group of armed gang members interrupted the party and started a violent fight. When Officer Quintero interceded, he was shot by one of the gang members. He died in my friend's arms. Following the incident, my friend fled Mexico to start a new life in the United States.

This piece was especially difficult, as the original photo was a mere 1" x 1", low resolution photocopied image used on the invitation to his funeral.
